I was fortunate to have worked with Dr. Eason during my years as Alumni Association President. His leadership was invaluable. But, I was truly blessed to get to know him and his wit!

I'm so sorry to hear about Dr. Eason's passing. I had him in the mid-70's at Columbia State. If he could take that bunch and make them like Shakespeare, he was quite a teacher. My deepest sympathies to you and your family.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Eason. He was a very kind, insightful, and considerate man. He was very helpful in assisting myself and Lisa Nesbitt, both nursing instructors at MCC at the time, in our efforts to establish a minority nursing
mentoring program in the ADN program at MCC. As a result of our efforts several minority RN's are now employed in healthcare facilities throughout the
Statesville community and elsewhere. He will always be remembered for this. Thank you Dr. Eason.

I remember the good times at Mitchell with Dr. Eason fondly. He and his wife would send me a birthday card every year. He cared about employees and this showed in how he managed the College.

It was one of my greatest honors to have worked with Dr. Douglas Eason for sixteen years at Mitchell Community College. Doug was not only a great leader, he was also a mentor, teacher and listener. The community will sorely miss his many contributions toward the betterment of his adopted home. Thanks to Dr. Eason for all of the encouragement and support so willingly given to so many. Sincere condolences to Laurel and the Eason family.

During our years in Statesville we were privileged to have Dr. Doug and Dr. Laurel Eason as our neighbors. There are no finer people. In a time of need they were there. They shared family joys and celebrations. Doug's wit and humor were well appreciated. Although his knowledge of many subjects was deeper than most he never made anyone feel inferior and treated all with kindness and caring for the human spirit. Our thoughts are with his family.

As a fellow transplant to Statesville I can't thank the Eason family for the kindness they showed my in my tenure with the City. Doug was a wonderful friend and colleague. He loved a good story and had a fantastic sense of humor. Doug gave Statesville his all and the City is the better for his vision.

I am so sad to hear of Dr. Eason's passing. He was such an amazing man, leader & community member.

He is a mentor & friend that has meant so much to me in my life. He honored me with the President's Award from Mitchell College in 2008, and also accompanied me to a visit in Raleigh to receive the NC Community Colleges' Academic Excellence Award. He always supported my music career (as he was an accomplished classical pianist!) and my husband & I were asked to perform for he & his lovely wife, Laurel's, 50th wedding anniversary party at The Sharpe House last year. He wrote me soaring letters of recommendation & was always a reference for me anytime I asked. He made me feel like I was his favorite student...but that's just because of who he was. He made everyone feel that way!

At his anniversary party, I had the pleasure of meeting his wonderful family & catching a glimpse of the fabulous life he & his wife led together. I will never forget his heartfelt toast to his wife, where he went down on one knee to ask his wife to marry him again & presented her with a gorgeous pearl ring. What a gentleman!

Just an all around class act, one-of-a-kind gem of a human being. I am so thankful for the privilege of having his positive influence in my life & for getting to know such a kind, encouraging, & intelligent person. What a phenomenal legacy he leaves! He will be missed by so many, I am certain. ❤️
Rest In Peace, Dr. Eason.

I will always remember Dr. Eason's smile and kind words. He always had time to stop and chat with you around campus. He was just a humble and kindhearted gentleman and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege to know him. He turned Mitchell Community College into a great institution. I send my condolences to his family and friends.

It was such a privilege to know and work with Dr. Eason. A true southern gentleman filled with grace, compassion and gratitude. I loved his sense of humor. Never forgot where he came from. We shared a love for pickings from the greens patch that always needed to be accompanied by corn bread. Will be deeply missed and never forgotten. My deepest sympathy.

What a wonderful and admirable man. Your wisdom and kind words will continue to fill those who knew you and even those who may not had the chance. The stepping stones you set forth at Mitchell Community College will continue to give the gift of education to those who seek knowledge.
