Desolee Lindsey

Mrs. Margaret Desolee Waugh Lindsey, 93, of Statesville, died Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Gordon Hospice House.

Desolee was born in Statesville on June 27, 1926 to the late Harley and Daisy Benfield Waugh. She was a lifetime member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

On August 7, 1943 she married Hubert Allen Lindsey and together they shared 74 years of marriage until his passing on September 7, 2017. Desolee was a homemaker and bookkeeper at Lindsey's TV Sales and Service which was owned and operated alongside her husband Hubert.

In addition to her husband and parents, Desolee was also preceded in death by two sisters, Camilla Loftin and Lois Ervin, and one brother, Dan Waugh along with two daughters-in-law, Sheila Lindsey and Teresa Lindsey.

Desolee is survived by four children, Gaye Fox (Terry) of Statesville, David Lindsey (Vicky) and Matt Lindsey, both of TN, and Mark Lindsey of Clemmons, NC. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One brother, Jim Waugh of Lenoir and three sisters, Ruby Shoemaker and Laine Sherrill (Larry) of Statesville and Betty Pope of Mooresville also survive.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2020 in the Bethlehem UMC Cemetery with Pastor Michael Flack officiating. The family will visit following graveside services in the Poston Hall.
