Joyce Bo Knox Boyd

Joyce Bo Knox Boyd, 89, of Statesville, passed away at Gordon Hospice House surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 28, 2023. She was born on July 4, 1933, daughter of the late Phippsey Knox and Lena Mae Joyce Knox.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Bradford Turner Boyd, Jr. Joyce was a lifelong member of Front Street Baptist Church. After she retired at Neimens, Joyce and her husband, Brad volunteered at the reception desk at Gordon Hospice House for many years. Her hobbies included square dancing, bowling, reading, jigsaw puzzles, knitting and crocheting.

A caring mother, she is survived by her sons, Bradford Boyd, III (Melissa), Tony Boyd (Phoebe), and Rodney Boyd, all of Statesville; grandchildren, Lindsay (John) Phillips of Statesville, Tiffany Pigg (Joe) of Harrisburg, NC; and great grandchildren, Cooper Phillips and Lena Phillips of Statesville, NC, and Taylor Pigg and Avery Pigg of Harrisburg, NC. She is also survived by her brothers, Jerry Knox of Lexington, NC, Jackie Knox (Nora) of Rockingham, NC; and her sister, Jean Taylor (Rex) of Rockingham, NC.

The family would like to thank The Gardens of Statesville and Hospice of Iredell County for their loving and compassionate care. In addition, a special thanks to the following caregivers, Billie Holbrook, Blanche Getter, Wanda Potts, Carolyn Gantt, Kristy Jennings, Sherry Morrison, Carla Dobbins, Angie Miller, and Doris Jones.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Front Street Baptist Church in Statesville with Pastor Darren Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm at the church. A private burial will be held at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
