Anna Ruth Painter

Anna Ruth Hanshaw Painter, 77, of Statesville, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Gordon Hospice House.

Born on June 14, 1948 in Fayette, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Arnold Hanshaw and Helen Jean Brown Hanshaw. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Ray Painter, and a brother, Roy Hanshaw. 

Anna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found joy in caring for her family. She loved reading, solving puzzles, and playing board games. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening and swimming. Above all, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Timothy Ray (Diana Marie) Painter; grandchildren, Nikia (Brandon) Gilley, Timothy Ray Painter II, and Dominique (John) Benge; brothers, Eddie (Malinda) Hanshaw and Perry (Patricia) Hanshaw; sister, Janie (Forest) Hughes; and great-grandchildren, Jaelyn Gilley, Gabriel Gilley, Wrenley Benge, and Scarlette Benge.

 Services will remain private at this time.
