Betty Catherine Massey Levan, 91 of Statesville, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the Gordon Hospice House.
She was born in Iredell County on March 25, 1932, to the late Grover Massey and Luna Summers Massey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Levan in 2011, and siblings, Pauline Martin, Emmalois Icenhour, Hoyte Massey, William Massey and Leon Massey.
Betty loved her family and spending time with them more than anything. She loved playing softball, and cornhole with the grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and dancing.
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Vickie Moose (Randy), Janet Hellard (Rodney), four grandchildren, Stacey McHargue (Danny), Justin Hellard (Holly), Brad Hellard (Michelle), Kelli Plemmons (Shane), five great-grandchildren, Allie McHargue, Jackson Hellard, Ashtyn Hellard, Paisley Hellard, Paxton Hellard, a sister, Phyllis Shoemaker (Bob), and her fur baby, Lucy.
A Graveside Service will be held Monday, September 25, 2023, at 1:00 pm at New Sterling ARP Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Earl Lindermann and Rev. Rodney Hellard officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Moose, Danny McHargue, Justin Hellard, Brad Hellard, Shane Plemmons and Jackson Hellard. The family will visit with friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Betty will lie in state at the funeral home on Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
