Beverly Ann Heruska (née Koszewski) May 5, 1947 – September 19, 2026 Beverly Ann Heruska (née Koszewski), 79, of Statesville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Gordon Hospice House.

She slipped away in the golden morning sunlight after a long illness, surrounded by the care of those who walked with her in her last days.

Born May 5, 1947, in Webster, Massachusetts, Beverly was the daughter of Bernard L. and Irene S. (Pluta) Koszewski. She attended St. Louis Parochial School and graduated from Bartlett High School of Webster, Massachusetts.

Beverly was first married to Kenneth L. Harman II. They later divorced. She then shared more than thirty years of marriage with Dennis G. Young, Sr., of Pontiac, Michigan, who survives her and mourns her passing. She was the wife of George J. Heruska, Jr., of Statesville, who preceded her in death.

A devoted homemaker, Beverly also served as a bookkeeper for several businesses during her career. She gave generously of her time to her community, serving as both President and Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 1224, holding each office for three years. Her hands were seldom idle. She found joy in knitting, crochet, painting, ceramics, rug hooking, and countless other crafts that she shared with family and friends.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Heruska, Jr., of Statesville; by her son, Dennis George Young II; and by her brother, Kenneth L. Koszewski, Sr., of Dudley, Massachusetts.

She is survived by Dennis G. Young, Sr., of Pontiac, Michigan; and by her children, listed from oldest to youngest: Cassandra (Harman) Paquin and her husband, John C. Paquin, of Cool Spring, North Carolina; Bernard L. Young and his wife, Ling Zhou, of Fowlerville, Michigan; Patricia L. Young of Onalaska, Wisconsin; Timothy J. Young and his wife, Elizabeth J. (Greening) Young, of Pinckney, Michigan; Kevin A. Young and his wife, Heather M. (Day) Young, of Walled Lake, Michigan; and Virginia Ann Young and her fiancé, Michael J. Saunders, of Brighton, Michigan. She was also blessed with twelve grandchildren and one greatgrandson, and by beloved nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Beverly was further blessed by many friends who brightened her days, including Juliana Kathman of Statesville and her trusted companion, Eric Pearson, also of Statesville, both of whom walked her home in her last days. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 2:oopm, at Nicholson Funeral Home, 135 E. Front Street, Statesville, North Carolina, with a brief visitation preceding the service at 1pm. A private graveside service for the family will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
