Brown Lee McCoy, 88, of Statesville, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011, at Brian Center in Statesville following a brief illness. Mr. McCoy was born December 7, 1922 in Iredell County and was the son of the late James William McCoy and Carrie Viola Moose McCoy. He attended Iredell County schools and on May 26, 1944, he married Francis Louise Fortner McCoy, who preceded him in death on November 27, 2001. Mr. McCoy was retired from Clark Equipment in addition was also retired as a paint contractor. He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where he served as a Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, and Youth Leader and served on the Administration Counsel. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. McCoy was also preceded in death by two daughters, Bonnie Lou McCoy and Brenda Sue Mayes; three sisters, Mary E. "Libby" Russell, Lillian M. Isenhour, and Anna Lee McCoy. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers, Garland, Clarence, Glenn, Woodrow, Coite, J.C., Jim, and Marvin McCoy. Mr. McCoy is survived by one daughter, Lori M. McNabb of Statesville; three grandsons, Andrew Campbell, Jonathon Mayes, and David Mayes, Jr., all of Statesville. He is also survived by a special friend, Kay Parker of Cleveland, N.C. along with five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:30 PM Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Chapel Hill UMC with Rev. Mandy Jones and Rev. Ralph Lepley officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM at the church. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.
