David D. Crosby, Jr., 74 , of Statesville was greeted by his Savior on July 5, 2026, from his home.
On March 13, 1952, he was born in Coral Gables, Florida to David DeWitt Crosby, Sr. and Sarah Smartt Crosby.
David graduated from RJ Reynolds High School in 1970. He continued to enjoy reunions with his classmates.
David served in the US Air Force as an Airman First Class. He received his B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Pfeiffer University and his Master of Arts in Agency Counseling from the University of North Carolina in Charlotte.
He was the first Executive Director for the Exchange Club Child Abuse Prevention Center of Iredell County (S.C.A.N.) and served in that capacity for 10 years.
He served as the Site Director for the Statesville Clinic for Crossroads Area Program and later served as Director of Customer Service in Administration and Supervision. He also served on the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail. He received the Distinguished Jaycees Award and was a past President of the Fourth Creek Rotary Club. During his career, he was a recipient of the Chi Sigma Iota Award from the Academic and Professional Honor Society for counselors, the Extra Mile Award and the President’s Award, both from the NC Mental Health Consumer Organization. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Iredell Partnership for Young Children (Smart Start), was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Criminal Justice Partnership Program , Child Fatality Task Force and Juvenile Crime Prevention Council where he served as Chairperson,
He enjoyed golf, tennis, racquetball, yard work, backpacking, camping, hiking and canoeing.
On March 15, 1975 he married Terri Mullis who survives him. Also surviving are a son, David Spencer Crosby, a grandson, River Crosby, two sisters, Nora Coalson and DeWitt Crosby, three nephews and a niece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sally Crosby and Christian Crosby.
A time of remembrance will be held at First Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 6:30PM with Dr. Nelson Grenade officiating. The family will visit with friends and family following the service in Adams Hall.
A private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Autism Society of NC, Attn: Donations, 5121 Kingdom Way, #100, Raleigh, NC 27607, or to the charity of the donor's choice. .
Nicholson Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of the Crosby family.
