David Brady Morrison, formerly of Statesville and Clemmons, passed away June 23, 2026 on his 90th birthday. He was born in Statesville on June 23, 1936 to the late Harry Andrew Morrison and Bessie Brady Morrison. After graduating from Barium Springs High School, he enrolled at Mars Hill College. While there, he met his future wife, Margaret Yvonne Duncan. They were married in 1961 after David proudly served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army. After their marriage, David and Margaret moved to Winston-Salem. He briefly attended Wake Forest University before beginning a career in advertising sales for the Winston-Salem Journal/Sentinel. After his retirement he was an avid gardener and able to split firewood and push-mow his ¾ acre lawn until well into his eighties.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Morrison, and a brother, Charles Sidney Morrison. He is survived by a son, Michael David Morrison (wife Charlotte), a granddaughter, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Leigh Morrison, all of Walnut Cove; a nephew, Charles Sidney Morrison, Jr. (wife Leisa) of Clemmons; a cousin, Jolette Pace (husband Lloyd) of Salisbury; and a former sister-in-law, Becky Norman of Lewisville.

The family will receive visitors at Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville, NC from 11:30-1:30 on Tuesday, June 30. A graveside service will follow at Concord Presbyterian Church in Loray at 2PM.

The family would like to thank the staff of Walnut Ridge Assisted Living and Mountain Valley Hospice for caring for David as his health declined.
