Dewana Kay Owen Windsor, born on October 25, 1961, in Hampton, Virginia, peacefully passed away at the age of 63 on July 7, 2025, in Statesville, North Carolina. Her journey through life was a testament to her enduring spirit and love for those around her.
From a young age, Dewana embraced a life of faith, joining Fallstown Baptist Church where she found community and spiritual grounding. Her professional life included dedicated years working at Acme Metal Products, where she was known for her strong work ethic and commitment to her colleagues.
Above all, Dewana's greatest joy came from the time she spent with her beloved grandchildren. They were the center of her universe, and she cherished every moment with Liam, Wyatt, and Connor McNeil. Her love was their guiding star, and in her presence, they felt the depth of her warmth and affection.
Dewana was preceded in death by her parents, Francis L. Owen and Betty "Cookie" House, as well as her son, Branson Thomas Severt. She leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory close: her daughter, Ashley Severt McNeil; her brother, Mike Owen; her sisters, Crystal Owen Fuentes (Andrew) and Heidi Owen; and her cherished grandchildren.
Her favorite color, purple, reflected qualities that Dewana embodied throughout her life—royalty, nobility, and power. She wore these traits with grace and left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Dewana's spirit will continue to inspire and uplift, reminding us all to cherish the moments we have with loved ones and to embrace life with compassion and strength.
Nicholson Funeral Home is honored to serve this family during their time of need.
