Donald Wayne Brawley, known to family and friends as Don, passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2026, at the age of 64.

Born on July 19, 1961, in Red Bud, Illinois, Don lived a life of service, generosity, and deep love for his family. He was a proud United States Army veteran who honorably served his country for more than twenty years before retiring from military service. Throughout his career, he earned numerous commendations and awards in recognition of his dedication, leadership, and commitment to those he served alongside.

Those who knew Don understood that beneath his rough-around-the-edges exterior was an extraordinarily kind and generous heart. He never sought recognition for the ways he helped others and often went out of his way to improve someone's day without expecting anything in return. Whether sharing a meal or quietly helping someone in need, Don found joy in taking care of others in whatever way he could.

Don loved country music, horses, target shooting, woodworking, and classic black-and-white westerns. He had a sharp sense of humor, a colorful vocabulary, and a way of making people laugh when they least expected it. He was genuine and never tried to be anyone other than himself.

Perhaps nothing mattered more to Don than his family. He shared much of his life with Claudia Cook Brawley, and together they built a family that remained at the center of his world. Don was a devoted father who loved his children deeply and an especially loving grandfather who treasured every moment spent with his grandson. Those who loved him knew the depth of his compassion, loyalty, and heart.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Cook Brawley; daughters, Ashley Snook and Christina Brawley; son-in-law, Jorell Snook; grandson, Chad Ethan Snook; mother, Myrna Clifton Brawley; mother-in-law, Martha Cook ("Gma"); his faithful dog, Lucy; and many other family members and friends whose lives were touched by his kindness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Edward Brawley, and his beloved son, Chad Coe.

Don's legacy is not found only in his years of military service, but in the countless ways he showed up for others throughout his life. He will be remembered for his service, his humor, his compassion, and the enormous heart that existed beneath his rugged exterior. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
