Dorothy Cline Vinson, 94, a cherished member of Statesville, passed away on October 4, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House following a period of declining health. Born on June 22, 1931, in Iredell County, North Carolina, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.
Dorothy graduated from Cool Spring High School and went on to have a fulfilling career as an Office Manager at Belk for several years, where she was known for her diligence and commitment. A woman of deep faith, she was a proud member of the Methodist Church, which played an essential role in her life and community involvement.
An avid gardener, Dorothy found great joy in nurturing beautiful flowers, a passion that blossomed alongside her love for canning and freezing vegetables. Her deep appreciation for nature extended to the mountains, where she maintained a home on the New River, a place that brought her peace and happiness. Dorothy also had a lifelong love for animals, particularly hummingbirds and her dogs, whose companionship brought her comfort and delight throughout the years. In addition, she enjoyed spending time in Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia later in life, cherishing the moments spent with family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved son, Jeffrey Vinson, along with her two grandchildren, Mallory V. Harris (Jon) and Alexander R. Vinson (Hannah). She was also a proud great-grandmother to Redford Harris, Merritt Harris, and Forest Vinson, who were a constant source of joy and pride in her life.
She is preceded in death by her father, James Lester Cline; her mother, Lillie Fox Cline; her husband, Ray Clifford Vinson; and her sisters, Martha Cline Privette and Frances Cline Whitener. Dorothy's legacy of love, passion, and unwavering spirit will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A private service will be held.
