Edward Alan Flowers, born on June 22, 1942, in Iredell County, NC, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, at the age of 84, at the Gordon Hospice Home in Statesville, NC.

Alan was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent over 50 years on the road as a truck driver. He proudly worked for several Teamsters Union trucking companies and retired as the lead driver after 30 years of service with Merchant Metals. His commitment to his profession was admired by all who knew him.

Alan's life was filled with travel and adventure. He enjoyed exploring various destinations by car, plane, and cruise ship alongside his dear friends Jim and Brenda Schmidt. A passionate bowler, Alan participated in numerous bowling tournaments with special friends Allen Yarnell and Trillis Queen, as well as other cherished companions from Pla Mor Lanes. In 1999, he made history by bowling his first perfect 300 game, the first at Pla Mor Lanes in 18 years.

A man of faith, Alan was a devoted member of New Sterling ARP Church and had formerly attended Western Avenue Baptist Church and Elk Shoals ARP. He was a proud graduate of Statesville Senior High School, class of 1960.

Alan was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John Edward Flowers and Sadie Eudy Flowers. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ellis Kay Misenheimer Flowers; his children, Donna Horne (Ray) and John Flowers (Sharon); grandchildren, Alan Wayne Reavis (Elizabeth) and Kayla Danielle Findley (Jamey); and great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Libby Ann, Caiden, Malachi, Ava, and Kobe. Alan is also survived by his brother David Flowers (Beverly), sister Judy Carden, brother-in-law Steve Misenheimer (Debbie), sister-in-law Brenda Schmidt (Jim), along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Thursday, August 13, at New Sterling ARP in Stony Point. A funeral service will follow in the church at 11 AM, with burial in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gordon Hospice Home of Statesville. Alan's legacy of dedication, love, and adventure will be fondly remembered by all who were blessed to know him.
