Elmer M. Huie, of Statesville, aged 86, passed away on December 26, 2025, at Jurney's of Statesville, following a period of declining health. Born on November 6, 1939, in Iredell County, North Carolina, Elmer was a man cherished by many and known for his warm heart and deep dedication to family.

Throughout his life, Elmer's career spanned several memorable years at Southern Screw Company before he moved on to Manheim Auto Auction, where he continued to build a legacy of hard work until his retirement. His commitment to excellence was evident in all that he undertook, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Education was an important part of Elmer's life, having attended Union Grove School. It was there that he laid the foundation for his lifelong love of learning and teaching, passing on knowledge to future generations alongside the values he held dear.

Elmer particularly treasured spending quality time with his family. From an early age, he delighted in sharing joyful moments with his children, teaching them a variety of games including basketball, tennis, croquet, checkers, and rook. His love for gardening reflected his nurturing spirit, allowing him to cultivate not only plants but also strong, lasting relationships with those around him.

A devoted member of Beulah Heights Wesleyan Church, Elmer impacted many lives as he taught Sunday School and served as the Sunday School Superintendent for several years. His passion for music shone through as he sang in the choir and lent his rich bass voice to a gospel quartet, enriching the worship experience for his community.

Elmer’s love for classic television was exemplified in his fondness for The Andy Griffith Show and old westerns, which brought him joy and comfort in quiet moments. He was known for his sharp memory, particularly for names, which reflected his genuine interest in the people around him.

He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Henderson (Chester), and son, Chris Huie, along with three beloved grandchildren: Whitley Ely (Jonny), Heather Mitchell (Will), and Jake Huie. He also celebrated the arrival of one great-grandchild, Bentley Ely, with another on the way, creating a legacy of love that will carry on through his family. Elmer is also remembered by his sister-in-law, Mary Huie.

Elmer was predeceased by his father, Cowan Huie; mother, Edna Campbell Huie; wife, Lavonne Whitlock Huie; brother, John Huie; sister, Eloise Riddle; and brother-in-law, Gene Riddle.

His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. Elmer M. Huie leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a deep love for family that will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
