Florence Lerner

Florence "Flo" Marcus Lerner, 93, of Taylorsville, N.C. passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, at Catawba Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Lerner was born May 18, 1918 in Bronx, N.Y. and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Rose Boroski Marcus. Mrs. Lerner attended school in Bronx, N.Y. and on June 27, 1947, she was married to Max Lerner who preceded her in death. She was a retired retail merchant, having been owner/operator of their own business. Mrs. Lerner was a member of The Woman's Club of Alexander County and she was a member of Temple Emanuel. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Lerner was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elaine Dworkin and Ruth Marcus. Mrs. Lerner is survived by one son, Jack Lerner along with his children, grandson, Joseph Lerner of Winston-Salem and granddaughter, Katie L Robles (Norman) of Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. She is also survived by one daughter, Rhonda L. Kogut (Mike) of College Station, TX and her children, grandson, Nathan Kogut and granddaughter, Dorie Kogut, both of College Station, TX. She is further survived by Margaret Watts, who was Flo's caregiver. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 10:00 am Thursday, June 2, 2011 in Oakwood Cemetery with Rabbi Murray Ezring officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Temple Emanuel, 206 N Kelly Street, Statesville, NC 28677 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, N.C. 28625.
