Fred Wayne Poole, a beloved father, grandfather, friend, and motorcycle enthusiast, passed away peacefully from natural causes on October 28, 2025, in Statesville, NC, at the age of 82. Born on August 26, 1943, in Roanoke County, VA, Wayne embraced every moment of his life with a passion that inspired those around him.
Wayne's love for automotive care was evident from a young age, culminating in a successful career as the owner of an Automotive Paint and Body Shop, continuing his father's legacy. Known for his deft craftsmanship and an eye for detail, he specialized in exotic luxury cars, where his artistry truly shone. Wayne's shop was more than just a workplace; it was a haven where cars were transformed and friendships were forged throughout many generations.
A Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast, Wayne found freedom on the open road. His journeys on two wheels were a testament to his adventurous spirit and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He spent countless hours working on and painting cars, channeling his creativity into both his work and hobbies.
He was deeply rooted in his community and cherished those who knew him. Earlier in life, Wayne was affiliated with Beulah Baptist Church, where he cultivated deep connections and a foundation of faith that influenced his outlook on life.
Wayne is preceded in death by his father, Fred Walton Poole; his mother, Garnett Elizabeth Clement; and his son, David Wayne Poole. He leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience in his surviving family: his daughter, Virginia Ann Murray, also known as Virginia Poole Osborn; his son, Jesse Shoun; daughter Melinda Galisa (Matt) and; and his sister, Betty Guthrie.
Wayne's memory will continue to live in the hearts of his grandchildren—Harley Christopher Poole (Summer), Logan Shoun, Caleb Shoun, Riley Shoun, Brenden Smith, Dawn Fox, and Brandon Osborn—and his great-grandchildren Micah, Noah, Bentley, Aubree, and Christopher, along with numerous other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville, with visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, followed immediately by the service at 12:00 Noon, officiated by Pastor Randy Mitchell. Interment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
Fred Wayne Poole was a man of heart and drive, who touched lives with his unwavering joy, vibrant stories, and boundless energy. As we bid farewell, may we carry his zest for life forward, honoring his memory with every rev of an engine and shared laughter on the road ahead.
