Gail Gilleland, of Statesville, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, at home. Born on March 2, 1942, in Iredell County, North Carolina, Gail spent her life embodying warmth, generosity, and kindness to all those fortunate enough to know her.

Gail's unwavering spirit and devotion to her family defined her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Gladys Marie Gilleland, whose memory she carried dearly, a niece Teresa Lineberger, and nephew Calvin Lee Hildebrand. Left to mourn her passing is her devoted daughter, Alicia Marlowe (Loyd), for whom Gail’s boundless love, wisdom, and support were constant sources of comfort and guidance. Also surviving are two grandsons, John Marlowe (Kaley), and Nicolas Marlowe (Savannah), two great granddaughters, Hazel Kate Marlowe and Hattie Jo Marlowe, a sister, Sheila Hildebrand, a niece, Rose Sipe (JC), a nephew, John Hildebrand, other nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

Gail found great pride in her career as a machine operator at Vishay where she was known as Maw to everyone. She valued her work and the independence it gave her. One of her proudest accomplishments was becoming a homeowner, a milestone she cherished for the independence and security it provided her family.

Her faith played a central role in her life. Gail dearly loved her church, Olivet Baptist, and her connection to its community was a continual source of strength and joy for her. She will be fondly remembered for her bright presence at church gatherings and for offering a welcoming hand to all.

Gail was a friend to all and genuinely never met a stranger. Her remarkable ability to connect with people, to offer comfort, friendship, and a listening ear, stood as a hallmark of her character. In quiet moments, she found joy in simple pleasures—shopping, sewing, reading, playing with her great grandchildren, and tending to her yard, especially her cherished flowers. Her garden bloomed as vibrantly as the spirit she carried within her.

She took the greatest pride in being a provider and loving her family unconditionally. For Alicia, and for everyone who knew her, Gail was a steadfast presence, offering unwavering love and guidance.
