Harry Oliver Curtis, of Statesville, a devoted family man and esteemed Air Traffic Controller, passed away on May 15, 2025, at Autumn Care, following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 4, 1934, in Exeter, New Hampshire.
A proud graduate of Dover High School, Harry furthered his education at Dayton Beach Community College. After his schooling, he dedicated himself to serving his country in the United States Air Force, where he gained invaluable experience that would later contribute to his successful career as an Air Traffic Controller.
Harry was affectionately remembered for his friendly demeanor and his commitment to being a good neighbor. He created lasting bonds in a wonderful community environment, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and friendship.
Faith played an important role in Harry's later years, and he attended The Oaks church, in Statesville. His involvement extended beyond his church, as he was a valued member of both the Elks Lodge and the Masonic Lodge, where he enjoyed the fellowship of his peers.
In his private life, Harry relished in simple pleasures. He took immense pride in maintaining his lawn, often reflecting on how beautiful it looked. Harry found joy in taking drives with his beloved wife of over 40 years, Lorraine Hannah Curtis. Together, they explored scenic back roads and delighted in stopping for a leisurely lunch, cherishing the moments spent together.
Harry is survived by his loving wife Lorraine, alongside their three sons: John Peck, Scott Peck, and Robert Peck. He is also survived by his three daughters: Beverly Morse, Cheryl Labombard (Mark), and Karen Labombard, as well as ten cherished grandchildren who brought him immense joy.
He was predeceased by his father, Harry Melville Curtis, his mother, Alma Catherine Sill Curtis, a son, David Curtis, and two daughters, Deborah Barrell and Rhonda Putnam.
Harry Oliver Curtis will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments, but also for the warmth he brought to those around him through his kindness and unwavering dedication to family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services will be held later in New Hampshire.
