Harvey L.
Dalton Sr.
Feb 24, 1949 — Jun 16, 2026
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, our Lord and Savior called our beloved brother, Deacon Harvey Leonard Dalton, to his eternal rest. Harvey was born on February 24th, 1949, to the late Leslie Spann Dalton and Bertha Mae Dalton. He was the second of six siblings and was preceded in death by three: the late William Spann Dalton of High Point, North Carolina; the late Sandra Dalton Faulk and Crosby Faulk, formerly of Charlotte, North Carolina; and the late Sylvia Jean Dalton Conley, formerly of Statesville N.C.
Harvey received his education in the Iredell County Schools, attending the historic Houstonville School and Unity School, and later graduating from North Iredell High School in 1967. He also attended Rowan Cabarrus Community College in Salisbury, NC.
Harvey faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Armed Forces and was a proud Vietnam veteran, serving as a helicopter crew chief. He wore his veteran’s cap with great pride and honor, a reflection of his deep love for his country and his service.
His professional legacy grew from the skills he honed in the military—skills that shaped his work at Southern Screw Company, Norfolk Southern, and Food Lion. In time, that same dedication and discipline inspired him to step confidently into entrepreneurship, becoming the proud owner and founder of Dalton’s Mobile Home Supply & Commercial Refrigeration, established in 1983.
Harvey held an HVAC/Mechanical Contractor license through the State of North Carolina and was also a certified unlimited licensed electrician, a testament to his mastery of the trades and his unwavering dedication to his craft as an independent commercial contractor.
At an early age, Harvey accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He later became a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church in Harmony N.C. where he remained a loyal and faithful servant as his health would allow.
Harvey was united in marriage to Ms. Shirley Caldwell in 2006, gaining three beloved bonus children—Leslie Caldwell of Mooresville, NC; Margo Brandon of Troutman, NC; and James Caldwell Jr. of Concord, NC—and she became Mrs. Shirley Caldwell Dalton.
He was previously married to Ms. Lenora Dalton (Bailey). From this union, he was blessed with three children: James Christopher Dalton of Mooresville, NC; Sylvia LaJean Dalton of Cornelius, NC; and Harvey Dalton Jr. of Charlotte, NC.
In addition to his children, Harvey leaves to cherish his memory: one sister, Mrs. Barbara Dalton James of Concord, NC; one brother, Dr. Cecil J. Dalton of Atlanta, GA; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Betty Jo Dalton of Wake Forest, NC; one brother-in-law Mr. Donald James, Sr of Concord NC, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many other beloved relatives and friends.
Harvey was patient, incredibly humble, hardworking, talented, wise and truly a humorous individual. As a devoted Christian, he faithfully used his gifts and skills to serve his family, his church, and the community at-large. Harvey always had an encouraging word to share and a spirit uplifting those around him.
His life was a reflection of his commitment to God and to serving others with love, compassion and sincerity. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
