Helen Mae Fox, aged 88, of Statesville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026. Born on May 28, 1938, in Buncombe County, NC, Helen lived a life full of love, faith, and dedication to her family and community.
Helen was a cherished member of Beulah Baptist Church, where she actively participated in the Lyda Sunday School Class and found strength and comfort in her faith. She was known for her kindness, her passion for making beautiful quilts, her love of working word puzzles, bowling, and reading her Bible. Helen’s gentle spirit and warm heart touched all who knew her.
She retired from with her brother at Leroy’s Frame Company after years of hard work and commitment, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and integrity. Helen was a beloved wife to the late Boyce Fox and a devoted daughter to Jack B. Chandler and Iva Lee Reavis Chandler. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Johnny Chandler and Leroy Chandler.
Helen is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Alton Fox (Lucille) and Lynn Fox (Ellen) of Statesville; her three daughters, Gail Fox Poole (Clay) of Moravian Falls, Lisa Fox Hoover (Charles), and Melanie Fox Grant of Statesville; her two brothers, Orville Chandler of Catawba and Bill Chandler (Diane) of Maiden; and her sister, Marie Chandler Goble of Catawba. She was a proud grandmother to Lemuel, Heather, Ashley, Amanda, Stephanie, Emily, Dustin, and Jeremy, as well as a great-grandmother to eleven precious great-grandchildren.
Helen’s life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and perseverance. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM from Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Brian Burgess officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home.
Helen Mae Fox’s warmth, grace, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire all who loved her.
