James Johnson

James Franklin Johnson, 72, of Statesville, passed away Monday, April 04, 2011, at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mr. Johnson was born July 31, 1938 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Otis Franklin Johnson and Wilma Isolene Whitlock Johnson. He was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and he was retired from Apac Paving Co. where he worked as a machine operator. In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence Eugene and Henry Clay Johnson. Mr. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Delana Dare Cothran and Jamie Michelle Lambert (Kenny), both of Stony Point; five grandsons, Marcus Doug Parsons (Jessica) and Thomas James Chambers, both of Stony Point, Jason Ray Parsons, Corey Allen Lambert, and Khristian Chevelle Lambert, all of Statesville. He is also survived by six sisters, Rachel Jurney, Helen Hall, Marie Cash, Mary Wise, Patricia Johnson, all of Statesville, and Carol Johnson of Mt. Airy, N.C. along with three brothers, Rev. Otis Johnson, Jr., Raymond Johnson, and Elmer Johnson, all of Statesville. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be conducted 3:30 PM Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Eanes and Rev. Otis Johnson Jr. officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 3:30 Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.nicholsonfunerals.com/obituaries.
