James Washington Payne

James Washington (JW) Payne, 78, died Sunday, March 29, 2020 following a brief illness.He leaves his wife of sixty years, Jewel (Wood) Payne; daughters: Darla Payne Page wife of Grant, Debra Payne Jordan wife of William Bill; sons: Frank ODell Payne husband of Stacy; James Randall Payne husband of Shawn; Grandsons: Jacob Jordan, Joshua (Lizzie) Jordan, Nathan (Meredith) Page, J.D. Page, Matthew LaRue, and Zeke Wiggins; Granddaughters: Natalie Payne, Hannah Payne, Meri Jordan, Aubrey Payne; Great grandson: George Payne; Sister Peggy Ann McGee Deathridge; Brother Kim (Brenda) Payne along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was born and resided in Stokesdale, NC to the late Frank Payne, stepmother Margaret Jackson Payne and mother Ollie Pegram Payne. Preceded in death by stepbrothers Richard Jackson of Greensboro, NC and Denis Jackson of Pfafftown, NC.For 39 years JW enjoyed driving and competing with trucks, after retiring full time he drove part time for Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART).In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that donations be made in his honor to the Stokesdale Fire Department.
