Jessie Rose (Hayes) Hutchens, a devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to heaven to be with her husband on March 25, 2026, just four days shy of her 88th birthday. Born on March 29, 1938, in Iredell County, North Carolina, she lived a life full of love, dedication, and joy.

Jessie spent her final years at The Greens at Maple Leaf, where she was surrounded by friends and caregivers who cherished her spirit and kindness. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Ike Hutchens, as well as her parents, her brother Lester Hayes, her sister Stella Hutchens, and her great-granddaughter Dakota Sharpe.

Jessie's work as an assembler at Bernhardt Furniture showcased her strong work ethic and attention to detail. Outside of her professional life, she found immense joy in sewing, embarking on numerous yard sale adventures, and, most importantly, spoiling her grandbabies, who were the light of her life.

A devoted member of Redemption Baptist Church, Jessie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with strength and solace throughout her years.

She is survived by her loving children: son Buddy Hutchens; daughters Brenda Levan and her husband Keith, Emma Jean McHenry, and Peggy Sharpe and her husband Michael. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Stephen McHenry, Jennifer Andrade, Teresa Levan, Lisa Garcia, and Michael "PeeWee" Sharpe. She also leaves behind her adored great-grandchildren: Audrianna Garcia, Thomas McHenry, Nathalia Andrade, Emylii Garcia, Clarissa Garcia, Kamden Sharpe, and Asher Cornelius.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jessie's life at a funeral service on Monday, March 30, at 1 PM in the chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM prior to the service. Following the service, Jessie will be laid to rest at Redemption Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, honoring Jessie’s compassionate nature and her appreciation for the care she received.

Jessie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
