James Robert Moore, 78, of Statesville, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. Moore was born May 19, 1932 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Robert Glenn Moore and Grace Bell Moore. He was a graduate of Iredell County Schools, Mitchell College and served in the U.S. Air Force for 4 years. On June 9, 1956, he was married to Virginia Branton Moore, who survives of the home and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. He worked in the Textile Industry including 19 years with Fiber Industries. He enjoyed Crossword Puzzles, working on his computer, reading the morning paper, fishing and watching ballgames. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Alisa Moore of Statesville, two sons, Bobby Moore and wife, Sherry of Statesville, Billy Moore and wife, Nancy of Statesville; three grandchildren, Renee Gryder and husband, David of Statesville, Adrianne Scott of Statesville, Amber Scott Davis and husband, Derek of Conover; two great-grandchildren, Noah Davis of Conover, Kendall Gryder of Statesville and one brother, Terry Moore and wife, Barbara of Indiana. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Henry Cook and Dr. Allen Roberts officiating. A private burial will follow the funeral service in the Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday 1:30-3:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Lynn White, Tim White, Derrick Davis, Morris Sherrill, Rusty Chapman and Bob Haden. Memorials may be made to Beulah Baptist Church or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
