Jimmy Wayne Martin, born on January 19, 1986, in the bustling metropolis of Statesville, NC, decided to hang up his cowboy boots and ride into the sunset on September 3, 2026, at the age of 40.

A true son of North Carolina, Jimmy spent his days turning metal into masterpieces as a wielder at McCombs Steel, leaving behind a legacy of sturdy structures and even sturdier friendships. Though his work was rooted in steel, his heart was pure gold.

Back in high school, Jimmy was known for his love of weight lifting, football, and horses—a trifecta that solidified his status as a cowboy at heart. In later years, he returned to the gym, determined to lift more than just the spirits of those around him.

Jimmy had a knack for making people laugh, whether it was on the sidelines of a kids' football game or at a backyard barbecue. His infectious humor and quick wit were his trusty sidekicks, always ready to lasso a smile from anyone within earshot.

Preceded in death by his beloved mother, Debra Kay West Martin, and his cherished brother, Gary Lee Martin, Jimmy leaves behind a posse of family and friends who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Gerri Martin, their three sons, Krispen Blacker, Jack Blacker, and Cody Campbell, a daughter, Desray Kay Church, and his father, Robert Wayne Martin.

While Jimmy may have tipped his hat for the last time, his spirit remains as unbridled as ever. So here’s to Jimmy Wayne Martin: a man who lived with the heart of a cowboy, the strength of a welder, and the humor of a true friend. Ride on, Jimmy.
