Jose Alberto Bonilla Lopez was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, on January 11th. He grew up in Rockville, MD, and lived in Gaithersburg, MD, and Statesville NC.
He passed away on June 17th, 2026, at the age of 73 in Statesville, NC, after a long battle with Parkinsons.
Jose was a beloved son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and U.S.P.S. Postal Clerk for 40+ years in Maryland. His hobbies were listening to music, slot car track racing, Harley cross country motorcycle riding, carpentry, and being everyone's handyman. He was a thoughtful, loving person who always went out of his way to help others in need.
He is survived by his mother Angelina Bonilla, siblings, Maria Bonilla, Blanca Bonilla, Luis Bonilla, Miguel & Loretta Bonilla, and nephews and nieces, two daughters Kandias Weddle, Staisha Beall, a son in law, Michael Beall, twin grandsons, Weston, Brandon, and a two month old granddaughter Lucy Mae. He is preceded by his son Harley Weddle and father Jose Bonilla Norat.
