June "Cookie" Messick, 69, of Statesville, born on November 3, 1956, in Iredell County, NC, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness. She was a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, whose warm spirit and love for life endeared her to many.

Cookie dedicated a significant part of her professional life to the textile industry, working as an inspector in manufacturing children’s clothing. Her passion for children extended beyond her career, as she enjoyed giving candy to kids and participated wholeheartedly in community events, including the lively Troutman Parades, where her joyous presence was always felt.

In addition to her professional achievements, Cookie had a deep appreciation for the arts. She loved flowers and music profoundly, and in her earlier years, she delighted in playing the piano. These simple yet profound joys enriched her life and the lives of those around her.

Cookie is survived by her beloved family, including a brother, Bobby Messick (Rose) of Statesville, NC; a sister, Shirley Bowles (David) of South Carolina; three nieces; four nephews; ten great-nieces and great-nephews; and several cousins. Her legacy will undoubtedly continue through the love and fond memories shared by her family and friends.

Preceding Cookie in death were her father, Reid Messick; her mother, Mary Evelyn Moose Messick; a sister, Betty Baity; a brother-in-law, Bill Baity; and one nephew. The impact of her kindness, generosity, and vibrant spirit will resonate with all who knew her.

A Visitation will be held on December 19, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at Landmark Church of God, located at 2200 East Broad Street, Statesville, NC. The Celebration of Life will commence at 1:00 PM and conclude at 2:00 PM.

June "Cookie" Messick will be remembered for her radiant smile, loving heart, and the joy she brought into the lives of others. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
