Mr. Larry Edward Elkins Sr. passed away on October 19, 2026, in Statesville, North Carolina.

Larry was born on February 17, 1943 in Logan, West Virginia. Larry was the son of the late Lonnie Elkins and Nora Cremeans Elkins. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. Following his military service, he worked in maintenance for Fiber Industries before joining the family business, Elkins Flooring. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family above all else. He shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Inez Harris Elkins, until her passing in March 2026. Their life together was filled with love, memories, and a special appreciation for the beauty of the North Carolina mountains and beaches, where they enjoyed spending time together and with their family. 

Larry enjoyed watching football, fishing, and, most of all, spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed coaching his children's games when they were young and took great pride in being involved in their lives. His love extended to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him much joy. He also held a special place in his heart for his beloved dog, Benelli, who was a cherished part of his family.

Larry will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his years of service to his country, and the many memories he created with those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Inez Harris Elkins, parents, Lonnie and Nora Elkins, daughter, Cynthia Dawn, sister, Janice Elkins, brothers, Danny and Thomas Elkins, great granddaughter, Paisley Price.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Eddie Elkins (Mary) and Stephen Charles Elkins (Marie); grandchildren, Brooke Gatton, Hope Johnson (Brandon), Courtney Bruce, Spencer Brown (Megan) , Elizabeth Elkins , Logan Elkins (Kelsey) Stephanie Elkins; great grandchildren, Jaxson Gatton, Brentley Brown, Maddi Gatton, Hendrix Bruce, Ashten Brown, Charlie Johnson and Luke Elkins; sister-in-law, Lea Elkins; also, his precious fur baby, Benelli.

A memorial service will be held at 4PM, Friday, October 23, 2026 at Nicholson Funeral Home.
