Lela Dishman

Lela Souther Dishman, 87, of Statesville, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011, at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Dishman was born July 28, 1923 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late R.D. Souther and Tishie Speaks Souther. Mrs. Dishman attended Iredell County schools and she formerly worked as an inspector with Flexnit. Mrs. Dishman was married to Marshall Dishman, who survives of the home and she was a member of Cochran Street Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Mrs. Dishman was also preceded in death by D.L. Souther, Flora Belle Goodin, and Ruby Souther. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dishman is also survived by one son, Wayne Dishman (Reba) of Statesville; one granddaughter, Lisa Schafer (Daniel), along with two grandsons, Marty Dishman (Krista) and Artie Dishman (Joann), all of Statesville. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Schafer, Nathan Schafer, Jace Dishman, A.J. Dishman, Brady Dishman and Tyler Dishman. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret Feimster (Zeb) of Statesville and Patricia Reinhardt (Fred) of Mooresville, along with one brother, Lester Souther (Betty) of Statesville. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.B. Parker, Jr. and Dr. Bobby Henderson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Danny and Nicholas Schafer, Artie, A.J., and Brady Dishman, and Charlie and Dwight Goodin. Honorary pallbearers will be Nathan Schafer and Tyler Dishman.
