Lou Jane Carter

Lou Jane Hatcher Carter, 75, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Iredell Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Carter was born August 25, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Claude Alexander Hatcher and Goldie Irene Josey Hatcher. She attended Iredell County Schools and on July 3, 1960, she married Willis Myrlin Carter, who preceded her in death on July 9, 2006. Mrs. Carter was previously employed with Uniglass and Davis Hospital. She was a member of Front Street Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Carter was also preceded in death by twin daughters and two brothers, Claude "Ty" Hatcher and Ray E. Hatcher. Mrs. Carter is survived by two sons, Joey Edward Carter (Barbara) and Todd Alex Carter (Christine); one daughter, Tammy Ganell Carter (Roy Crouch), all of Statesville; one sister, Rebecca Hatcher Yepez (Edward) of Los Angeles, CA; five granddaughters, Stephanie Wilhelm (Michael), Stacy Daniels (Evan), Sarah Carter, Haley Carter, Holli Carter; two grandsons, Stephen Carter and Dylan Carter; one great-granddaughter, Addison Carter and a great-grandson expected in April. She is also survived by a special family friend, who helped care for her, Carolyn A. White, all of Statesville. Lou Jane is also survived by an aunt, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A service to celebrate the life of Lou Jane Carter will be conducted 6:00 PM Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Front Street Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Stutts and Pastor Marvin Boyer officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, N.C. 28625.
