Lucas G. Lauffenburger, 46, of Mooresville, NC, passed away unexpectedly after an undiagnosed illness Friday, July 31, 2026.

He was born July 21, 1980 in Newark, NY. The son of the late Bob Lauffenburger and survived by his mom, Ginny Lauffenburger (Ginegaw) and brother, Lance Lauffenburger (Kristi) and his nephew's Brady and Parks.

Luke grew up in Marion, NY, where his childhood was filled with exploring the countryside. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, sledding , jumping off the handmade rope swing into ponds in the summer and playing hockey on the frozen pond in the winter. He was kind and always willing to help in his quiet way. In school he excelled in many sports. He was a member of the Ronald McDonald Greater Rochester High School All Star Game. Which showcased the top players in basketball in that area. Luke was Wayne County Scoring leader  "97-98. MVP Keshequa Tournament " 96 Fab 5  "98 Scored 47 points against Lyons "98. Luke also excelled in golf. In high school a " Team of One" was created so Luke could compete with other high school teams. He became Section V NYS Qualifier Golf " 95 & 96. and went on to finish 2nd in Juniors at Oak Hill , Rochester, NY. He also was fortunate to be mentored by Greg Harmon, of Oak Hill County Club. After graduating he joined his family in moving to Mooresville, NC. There they continued in the family machining business that they had in Marion for 20 years.  Luke's dad became ill in 2013 with Parkinson's disease and he lived at home to help his mom take care of him. 

He enabled his dad to continue to go to business every day until a few months prior to death in 2023. Late 2025 Luke's health was beginning to decline. Several emergency room visits along with multiple test, scans, x-rays and continued research nothing was discovered. Luke had given up all hope finding a diagnosis and felt defeated. We will remember Luke's quiet smile, patience and caring nature and most of all his devotion and lasting care of his dad in his final days.
