Lucinda "Voncile" Milliken Janvrin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at The Greens at Maple Leaf in Statesville on May 17, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on May 11, 1935, in Saco, Maine. Voncile lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her deep love for family, community, and the world around her.
Voncile worked as an office clerk at Blackwelders Furniture, where she was known for her dedication and attention to detail. Beyond her professional endeavors, she found joy and fulfillment in traveling the world, a passion that enriched her life and broadened her perspective. Her skilled hands brought beauty to many through her sewing, needlework, and crafts, hobbies she cherished and shared with those close to her.
A devoted member of Living Word Ministries, Voncile's faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and nurturing her spirit. She also dedicated many years to supporting the West Iredell Band Boosters, reflecting her commitment to fostering community and encouraging young talent.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Edward Janvrin, her parents Ralph Milliken and Phyllis Hutchins Milliken, and her sister Ednadawn McMahon, Voncile leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her sons, Buddy Janvrin (Margie), Stephen Janvrin (Madona), and Matthew Janvrin; her daughters, Lucinda Koldys (Frank) and Melanie Freeman (Terry); 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and inspired.
A funeral service honoring Voncile's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 23, in the chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Living Word Ministries, in celebration of Voncile's enduring faith and spirit.Voncile's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community will be deeply missed. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
