Marlene Eder Parker, 90, of Statesville, a cherished mother, devoted Catholic, and lifelong enthusiast of simple joys, peacefully passed away at her home on May 28, 2026, following a decline in health. Born on November 17, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, Marlene’s life was marked by deep faith, enduring love for her family, and a gentle appreciation for the world around her.
Marlene embraced her faith with unwavering devotion, which provided a guiding light throughout her life. Her spiritual commitment was a cornerstone of her identity, giving her strength and comfort through all of life’s seasons. With a heart full of grace, she nurtured her relationships with warmth and kindness.
Family was the center of Marlene’s universe; she loved her family more than anything. She was a proud and loving mother to her four children: David Parker, Barbara Parker (Tom), Ken Parker (Donna), and Bill Parker (Melanie). She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Andrew Miller (Kelsey), David Parker, Jr., Chris Miller (Elizabeth), Michael Parker, Samantha Millsaps (Travis), Donnie Parker (Marisa), Daniel Parker, Hayden Miller (Kayla), Gabby Parker and nine great-grandchildren: Blayze, Skylin, Gryffon, Olivia, James Miller, Abigail, Evie, Jaden, James Millsaps, and three on the way: Gwen, Lucy and Gideon. Her children and their families brought immeasurable joy to her later years, and her legacy lives on through them. While she mourned the loss of her beloved husband, Don, her son Bill, and her mother Babette Schwind Eder, the memories they shared remain a treasured part of her life’s tapestry.
Beyond her family and faith, Marlene found pleasure in reading and often spent quiet moments sitting on her back porch, soaking in the beauty of nature. She had a keen interest in watching tennis, a sport she followed with enthusiasm, and was well known for her fondness for sweets, which added a touch of sweetness to her everyday life.
Marlene’s presence was one of calm strength and gentle spirit, qualities that endeared her to all who knew her. The home she created was a haven of love, comfort, and understanding—a reflection of her own caring nature.
Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of her loved ones, but her memory endures—a testament to a life well-lived and a soul deeply loved. Marlene Eder Parker will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
