Mary Lee Horne Holmes Wilson Dickey, born in Iredell County on April 4, 1944, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on September 19, 2026, at the age of 82. Her life was a testament to her enduring spirit, unwavering love, and dedication to her family. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Mary was a woman of strong faith who cherished her relationship with God and deeply valued her church family. She was a devoted member of Mount Calvary Apostolic Holiness Church before later moving her membership to Helps Ministry of Deliverance, where she remained a faithful member until her health began to decline. Her faith was an important part of her life, providing her with comfort, strength, and hope throughout her journey. She carried that faith with her through every season of life and remained steadfast in her love for God.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved parents, David Horne and Ida Mae White Horne; her daughter, Tina Wilson Peele; and all of her brothers and sisters: Wilford Horne, Walter Horne, Robert Horne, David Horne, Arthur Horne, Gertrude White Ward, and Ovella Smyre. Their memories remain forever cherished by those who loved them.
Left to cherish Mary's memory are her devoted daughter, Wendy (Shawn) Wilson Parks; her sons, James (Gloria) Holmes, Bobby (Teresa) Holmes Sr., and Andrew Holmes; and a special niece, Flossie Rucker.
Mary's loving legacy will continue through her grandchildren: Bobby D. "BJ" Holmes Jr., Kenisha Phifer, Marques Holmes, Chris Holmes, Cameron Holmes, Lakeshia Holmes, Quinten Holmes, Kourtney Craig, Joshua Propst, Brittany Wilson, Raven Wilson, Pastor Breon Holmes, Tyran Holmes, Andreneisha Holmes, Chenise Barber, Germaine Barber, Katrena Dobson, Jamie Wilson, Roderico Rickett, Larondria Rickett, Sierra Rickett, Demetric Marrero, Sabrina Harris, Phatara Howard, Meshia Howard, Tyrell Peele, Uniqua Wilson, Leondre Turner, and Raheem Rinehardt. She also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family and dear friends who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Mary will be remembered for her enduring love for her family, her gentle spirit, and the kindness she shared with those around her. Her presence brought warmth and love to those fortunate enough to know her. The love she gave and the memories she created will continue to live on through the generations of family she leaves behind.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, September 26, 2026, 12PM at Greater Praise Ministries 1947 East Broad St. Statesville, NC. Where the pastor is Bishop John Carr. Apostle Marlon Sanders will officiate and her grandson Pastor Breon Holmes will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm., but will assemble at the residence of her son Bobby D. (Teresa) Holmes, Sr. 2812 Newton Dr. Statesville, NC beginning Friday at 3:00 PM.
Nicholson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Ms. Dickey.
