In Loving Memory of Mary Jo Sigmon Mary Jo Sigmon of Statesville entered into the presence of her Lord on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Born on May 25, 1934, in Gaston County, she was the cherished daughter of the late Charlie and Virginia Robinson. A proud graduate of Sherrills Ford High School, Mary Jo married the love of her life, William “Billy” Sigmon, that same year, beginning a beautiful journey of devotion, faith, and family.

 Mary Jo loved the Lord deeply, and her faith was the steady foundation of her life. She dedicated 32 years of service to Southern Bell Telephone Company. A faithful member of Gloryland Baptist Church, she found joy in worship, especially through Gospel music. Her gift for playing the piano brought comfort and happiness to many, and her love for traveling with Billy created treasured memories that her family will forever hold close. 

Above all, Mary Jo’s heart belonged to her family. She delighted in every moment spent with them—celebrating milestones, sharing laughter, and offering the steady, unconditional love that defined her life. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Billy, and her brothers Dowell Robinson and Tommy Robinson. Left to cherish her memory are her brother Gerald Robinson and sister Regis Barnhardt; her children Vicki Bowman (Jerry), Donna Keaton (Blain), and Buddy Sigmon (Joanne). She is also survived by five grandchildren—Laura and Joseph Keaton (Leah); Preston, Amelia, and Parker Sigmon (Kiaira) and three great-grandchildren, Brady, Davis, and Tessa Keaton. Mary Jo leaves behind a special sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart. 

Funeral services celebrating Mary Jo’s life will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Blain Keaton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm, with the service beginning at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Concord Methodist Church in Long Island, North Carolina.
