Neal Leroy Manchester, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his residence in Statesville, North Carolina, on July 3, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on July 1, 1938, in Manchester, Michigan, Neal lived a life marked by dedication to family, hard work, and cherished pastimes.
Neal served his country honorably in the United States Army, an experience that instilled in him a profound sense of duty and resilience. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and respected career as a forklift mechanic at Wren Handling, where his skill and commitment were highly valued by colleagues and friends alike.
A man of simple pleasures, Neal found joy in the tranquility of fishing and the precision of target shooting. These hobbies provided him with moments of peace and reflection throughout his life.
Neal was preceded in death by his loving parents, Leroy Henry Manchester and Shirley Eva Wilson Manchester, as well as his devoted wife of 48 years, Beverly Watson Manchester. Together, Neal and Beverly built a life filled with love and laughter, creating a strong family foundation that will endure through generations.
He is survived by his son, Neal Manchester II, and his daughter, Sam Harding, along with her husband Jesse. Neal was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his later years.
At this time, no services are scheduled. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gentiva Hospice, honoring Neal's memory and supporting a cause close to his heart.
Neal Leroy Manchester will be remembered as a man of integrity and warmth, whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
