Mr. Richard “ Dicky” Dwight Bennett passed away April 10, 2026.

Richard “ Dicky” Dwight Bennett, born December 19, 1944, in Statesville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories. He was the son of the late James Dwight Bennett and Elnora Grant Bennett.

Richard was a proud graduate of Statesville High School and remained deeply connected to his roots throughout his life. He was also a dedicated and hardworking man who spent many years working as a contractor with RANELL Homes in Denver NC, in addition to working independently. He took great pride in his craft, and his strong work ethic and skill left a lasting mark on the homes and lives he helped build. He was an avid sports fan who found great joy in cheering for the Atlanta Braves and Carolina Panthers and following NASCAR. Whether watching a game or a race, those moments brought him happiness that he loved sharing with others. He loved music and spent many hours playing his guitar.

Above all, Richard was a family man. His loved ones were always his first priority, and he took great pride in being a devoted father and husband. He shared a beautiful and enduring love with his late wife, Annie Bennett, who was truly the love of his life. Together, they built a life rooted in companionship and devotion, sharing 38 wonderful years before her passing. Their bond was one of true soulmates.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Richard was preceded in death by his brothers, Kip Bennett and Ernie Beach, and his sister, Earlene Sides.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving children; daughters, Candace Best and Charlise Levan; son, Danny Bennett; grandchildren, Blade Best, Nicholas Baynes, Samantha Kresl and Mariah Watts; great grandchildren , Aiden, Grayson, Kylee, and Aislinn, and numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his sister, Louise Miller, and his brothers, Grant Bennett and Brian Bennett.

Richard will be remembered for his kind heart, his unwavering love for his family, and the strength and warmth he brought into the lives of those who knew him. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be held at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, April, 16, 2026 at 6pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service
