Rosemary Elaine Eury Hebbard peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, surrounded by her family. She spent her final weeks at Gordon Hospice House, where the staff cared for her with the same compassion and love that she had shown to others throughout her life.
Rosemary was a graduate of Broughton High School, Class of 1959. She went on to study at Appalachian State Teachers’ College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in special education. She later received a master’s degree in speech pathology. As a licensed speech pathologist, she dedicated her career to working with children in Ashe, Wilkes, and Iredell counties. She fondly recalled her students and the impact each of them had on her life.
After retiring from the public school system, Rosemary found immense joy in traveling throughout the United States and to several countries in Europe, including Ireland, Greece, and Italy. Her favorite travel destination, however, was Maine. Rosemary loved spending her summers there, eating all the “lobstah” she could get, walking the Marginal Way, and sharing the beauty of the state with family and friends who came to visit.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Dumas and Mabel Eury; her husband, Captain Le Roy B. Hebbard Jr.; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved cat, Tripp. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kellene Bock of Union Grove; her grandson, Aaron Bock of Union Grove; her granddaughter, Emily Lindsay and wife, Jasmyn Lindsay of Charlotte; and the true light of her life, her great-granddaughter, Spencer Lindsay.
The family would like to thank every caregiver, the staff at Iredell Memorial Hospital, and the staff at Gordon Hospice House for the care they gave Rosemary during her final months.
A celebration of Rosemary’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Union Grove United Methodist Church in Union Grove, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. Donations may be made in Rosemary’s honor to Gordon Hospice House or to Union Grove United Methodist Church by clicking on the link below.
