Ruby Ball Harrelson, of Statesville, born on May 25, 1944, in Bastrop, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House. She was surrounded by love and warmth as she made her transition from this world.
Ruby led a life marked by her unwavering faith and her deep commitment to her family and friends. A prayer warrior at heart, she was known for lifting the spirits of many through her heartfelt prayers and steadfast involvement in her faith community. Her relentless spirit shone brightly, even when her health began to wane in her later years. When she was able, Ruby served as a greeter in the retail business, sharing her joyful presence with those she encountered.
Ruby found joy in playing computer games, embracing moments of fun and engagement that delighted her spirit. She was a compassionate woman who balanced her playful interests with a profound dedication to nurturing the souls of those around her.
Ruby is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Harold "Jerry" Harrelson, who adored her deeply. She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Sharon Ball of Indiana, and two cherished nephews, Terry Ball and Tom Ball (Staci), along with numerous cousins who will remember her fondly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Perry Ball, Sr.; two brothers, Terry L. Ball and Perry Ball, Jr.; and a half-sister, Shirley Lambert. Their memories will remain close to the hearts of all who knew Ruby, as she embodied love and grace throughout her life.
In celebration of Ruby’s life, family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Living Word Ministries, located at 347 Jennings Road, Statesville, NC. The service will begin at 2:00 PM, where all are welcome to honor and remember the beautiful spirit of Ruby Ball Harrelson. Pastor James Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
