Mrs. Ruby Estelle Everidge Taylor, 86, of Statesville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2010, at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born November 21, 1924 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late James W. Everidge and Pearl Shumaker Everidge. She attended Harmony Schools and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. On November 6, 1943 she was married to Thomas G. Taylor who died August 27, 1985. Mrs. Taylor worked in textiles in her earlier years but was a homemaker for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Grady Everidge, Roland Everidge, Bruce Everidge, Hal Everidge, and Paul Everidge. Ruby is survived by two sisters and two brothers; Clara E. Jenkins, Lucy E. Mason, Bill Everidge (Barbara), and Bobby Everidge (Sue), all of Statesville; three sister-in-laws; Margaret Everidge, Ruth Hicks, and Mae Taylor. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Taylor will be conducted 7:00 P.M. Thursday evening, December 30, 2010, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. J.C. Parks and Rev. Cliff Gwaltney will officiate. The family will visit with friends on Thursday evening 6:00 until 7:00 PM before the funeral services and at other times the family will be assembled at their respective homes. Burial at the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery will be at 11:00 AM Friday morning. Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, N.C. 28625. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Ruby Everidge Taylor.
