She was preceded in death by her sisters, Audrey Guy Baker and her husband, Wayne Baker and Retha Guy Johnson and her husband, Ray Daniel Johnson. Sarah resided with Retha and Ray Johnson on the family farm working the farm and in the chicken house. Of course she helped raise the Johnson children and spoiled them and their off-spring. She was always there to help with homework, especially book reports and keeping them in freshly polished shoes and her famous angel biscuits. She was known to family and friends as "Babe". In her later years, she decided to move to Statesville Assisted Living - the Gardens - where she resided for nearly five years. Her last days were spent in the care of the excellent doctors and staff of the Gordon Hospice House. The family is so grateful to the staff of the Gardens for their care and compassion over the years she resided there and to Gordon Hospice House for their excellent care of her and the family in her last days. Sarah was a faithful member of Monticello United Methodist Church and sang in the choir as long as her health permitted. Funeral services will be held there on 10:30 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Jill Rhinehart and Rev. Kyle Goodman officiating. Pallbearers will be great nephews. Burial will follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
