Solon Jesse Tulbert, a cherished member of the Hamptonville community, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Hamptonville, NC, on April 22, 1947, Solon spent his life immersed in the town that witnessed his transformation from a childhood boy into a revered figure.

A dedicated automotive mechanic by profession, Solon possessed an unmatched aptitude for understanding the intricacies of machinery. He found immense joy under the hood of a car, a passion that extended to his love of painting cars and performing dirt track racing. He marveled at the thrill of the race and the precision of the craft, allowing him to pursue many First Place trophies.

Though mechanics and racing brought Solon much joy, nothing could compare to the time he spent with his beloved grandchildren, who became the center of his world. His bond with them was inseparable, a testament to his unyielding love. Not only did his family benefit from his love, but many others were able to experience the charitable man he was. His faithful dog, Blackie, remained a loyal companion throughout his journey, reflecting Solon's gentle and caring nature.

Solon was preceded in death by his loving parents, Velma Virginia York Tulbert and Jesse James Tulbert; his daughter, Shelia Faye Tulbert; his brothers, John Edward Tulbert, Thomas Tulbert, and Larry Tulbert; his sister, Kay Tulbert Arnold; and his grandchild, Heather Tulbert.

He leaves behind a legacy carried forth by his daughters, Virginia Tulbert Anderson, Jessica (Roy) Deaton, Hannah Tulbert, and Abigail Tulbert. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Tulbert Eason, his grandchildren, Adam Tulbert, Christian Anderson, Noah Anderson, Kurt Toney, Steven Pigman, Lucas Renegar, Lily Deaton, Lydia Deaton, Levi Deaton, Gracie Stollings, and Emma Stollings, along with several great-grandchildren who will continue to honor his memory. In his times of need, he valued the comforting presence of his special friend, April Doty.

Solon Jesse Tulbert was a man whose life was a testament to love, perseverance, and grace. He touched many lives with his genuine kindness and giving heart and his memory will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his legacy reverberate through the generations as a shining example of the profound impact one life can make.
