Thelma Flouton

Thelma Harmon, formerly of Statesville was born on May 24, 1933, in Avery County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Gastonia, North Carolina, at the age of 92.

Thelma was known for her gentle spirit and kind heart. She dedicated many years of her life to her work at the Built Right Chair Company, from which she retired after a long and fulfilling career. Her attention to detail and dedication to her work were admired by all who knew her.

Outside of her professional life, Thelma found joy in sewing and was an avid quilter, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her family for generations to come. She also enjoyed walking and spending quality time with her loved ones. Her family was her pride and joy, and she spent countless hours nurturing those relationships.

Thelma was a devoted member of the Baptist faith, finding comfort and community within her church throughout her life.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Leroy Harmon; her sons Leroy, Jimmy, and Bruce; and her grandson Joe Flouton.

Thelma leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving daughter, Anita Flouton, her five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, who will continue to cherish her memory.

At this time, no formal services are scheduled. The family plans to hold a memorial service at a later date to celebrate Thelma's life and the impact she had on all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Carolina Caring Hospice.
