Thomas James
Wright
Mar 23, 1940 — Jun 29, 2026
Thomas James Wright, born on March 23, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at Gordon Hospice House following a period of declining health. His journey through life was marked by deep commitment to family, steadfast service, unyielding work ethic, and a lifelong devotion to music.
Thomas spent his formative years in New York, graduating from Babylon High School in Long Island before continuing his education at Suffolk County Community College. These early years instilled in him a passion for learning and set the foundation for his diverse pursuits throughout life.
Serving his country with honor, Thomas was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, embodying the values of duty and integrity that would come to define much of his character. After his military service, Thomas dedicated over two decades to working in pest control—a profession in which he was respected and relied upon by his colleagues and community.
Music was one of Thomas’s greatest passions. He was a talented jazz musician, a skilled drummer who brought rhythm and joy to every performance. He played alongside Jim Calabrese and was a member of the Tommy Reed Band at the iconic Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Arizona. His love for music extended beyond the stage; Thomas shared his talent as an elementary school music teacher while living in Arizona, inspiring and encouraging young students to discover their own love for music. Even in quieter moments, Thomas enjoyed a good game of Scrabble, relishing the challenge and camaraderie it provided.
Above all, Thomas’s greatest pride came from his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Rosemary Cipriano Wright, whose steadfast partnership was a constant source of mutual comfort and joy. Thomas will be deeply missed by his son, Michael Wright, and his daughter, Kim Wright. His legacy also lives on through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness and pride in his later years.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Wright, and his mother, Catherine Wright. The memory of those who went before him, and the enduring bonds of family, brought him strength and perspective throughout his life.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Thomas remember his gentle spirit, humor, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. His love for music, dedication to his craft, and unwavering devotion to his loved ones leave a lasting imprint on all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.
A service in honor of Thomas’s life will be held at a later date to celebrate his memory, his accomplishments, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
