Vicki Cromie Reid, 64, of Moravian Falls, born on July 21, 1961, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026, following a brief illness. Vicki was a beloved figure in the community, best known for her dedication to education and her passion for cultivating the minds of young learners during her 25 years of teaching at Central Elementary School.
A graduate of North Iredell High School and Gardner-Webb University, Vicki's academic journey equipped her with both the knowledge and skills she later imparted to her students. She was not just an educator; she was a mentor and friend to many, instilling a love for learning that resonated well beyond her classroom walls.
In her personal life, Vicki was a true country girl at heart. She cherished the simple pleasures of life, which included reading, watching movies, and piecing together jigsaw puzzles. Her love for the outdoors was palpable, evident in her fondness for looking out her window at the mountain that graced her home, as well as her passion for the beach and traveling to new places. Vicki was also an active member of Love Valley Presbyterian Church, where she found a community of faith and support.
She leaves behind two brothers, William David Cromie (Lurdes) and Steven Foster Cromie, and two sisters, Sandra Jayne Cromie and Roxanna Cromie Canter (Wayne). Vicki’s legacy is further enriched by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members who will continue to share her stories and memories.
Vicki was preceded in death by her father, William Arthur Cromie, her mother, June Curran Cromie, and her two wonderful husbands, George Thompson Tracy and John Ivey Reid. The love she shared and the impact she made will be forever cherished by those who knew her.
As we reflect on Vicki's life, we remember her as a devoted educator, a loving sister, and a vibrant spirit who brought joy to those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the lives she touched throughout her years.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3pm , Saturday, March 7, 2026 at Love Valley Presbyterian Church. .
